Breast-flixing: TV shows to watch while breastfeeding

Progammes to watching while breastfeeding

Netflix landed in the UAE earlier this year, which is great news for breastfeeding mamas who find themselves confined to the couch for extended periods. Of course, breastfeeding is a perfect time to bond with your little cherub, but as most babies feed eight to 12 times a day, for between 20 and 40 minutes at a time, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to gaze lovingly at your newborn, while also ‘breast-flixing’ (as it is now termed). So, to get you started here’s our pick of the best TV shows to watch while breastfeeding. Prepare to stream…

TV shows to watch while breastfeeding: #3: Bates Motel

This present-day prequel to Psycho, tells the original story of Norman Bates. Set in modern times, the concept is a bit of a tricky one to get your head round, but fortunately, the show actually works a lot better than the complicated set up. Rather than the doom and gloom of the original movie, this series plays out as a mystery drama full of cryptic clues and tense plot twists. While there are some spooky moments in Bates Motel, it’s also light and comedic in parts. That said, it will certainly send a shiver down your spine, so it’s probably not one to tune into during your 3am feeds.
Number of seasons: 2
Episode length: 45 minutes

TV shows to watch while breastfeeding: #4 The Good Wife

If you’re up all night with a colicky baby, pass the time with The Good Wife – all seven seasons of it! The show follows the trials of wronged woman, single mum and courtroom queen Alicia Florrick. Admittedly, watching Julianna Margulies (aka Alicia Florrick) saunter across the screen in all her starch-pressed, designer-suit glory isn’t that easy to relate to when you’re still living in lycra leggings. But the premise centers on her return to law after a 13-year career break. If nothing else, it’s pretty darn inspiring.
